Bbq
So on the way out of town, headed towards our first night on the worship tour we stopped in Memphis to relax, recharge and refuel, but most importantly to get some BBQ.
Now me being from the south I have had preety much all the different faucets of BBQ. Mustard base, tomato base, Carolina style, Kansas city style, dry rub and the ever changing vinegar base. Although I have eaten BBQ in memphis many many times I had never been to the one place that everyone told me I should be going. RENDEZVOUS
For years I have watched this place hock their pit roasted, dry rubbed ware on all forms of food network programs. Of all the BBQ reviews I have read this place had the highest raves.
Upon entering it sorta feels like you are entering and old school speak easy, dark and in an alley named after it’s found Charlie virgos. Sounds Greek huh? That’s because it is!
Interesting you say? A Greek making BBQ in Memphis since the 40’s and it being hailed as the best? Yep. Oh yep.
Upon receiving our ribs I was super surprised at their appearance. They were the standard pork back ribs but literally covered in seasoning and sitting in a really thin, juicy sauce. The waiter told me not to put any of the provided sauce but to simply “dip” them in the juice.
BANG. I can’t describe how good this stuff is. Hands down the most flavorful pork rib ever. Tender, booming with flavor that is for sure different, due to the Greek back round. It is filled with oregano and lemon flavours!
I would suggest hitting up a different place for shoulder or chicken but the ribs here are the best I’ve ever had
Be good to each other and don’t forget to eat your BBQ.
